Gregory Michalek was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He started his education in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. In 1972 his family moved to the North Allegheny School system in second grade, and graduated from North Allegheny Schools in 1982. He earned his Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and Communication Arts from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA in 1987 and an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in 1997.
His family has resided in New Castle since 1995
Greg, his wife and oldest daughter moved into a small rental ranch in the North Hills. Before the move in, they were considered to be homeless after losing a job that included living facilities. In the fall of 199, while expecting their third child, they purchased, renovated and moved into their current residence.
Through the years he has been involved in many community organizations; These include Habitat for humanity, American Society
He has experienced working as a sole proprietor, in a small business and as a team member for Wal-Mart, the largest employer in the United States, and several different sized organizations in-between.
His first exposure to Politics was at the age of 11, when he went with his mother to help at the local campaign headquarters for Senator John Heinz. He was allowed to make phone calls for their “get out the vote” blitz on Election Day. He has worked on more than 26 campaigns since that introduction to electioneering.
When asked to describe Gregory in one word; people have responded in a variety of directions. Common descriptions include: determined, scrappy, resourceful and one of a kind.
